Message	you reinstall the intake. Once sand gets in there it could easily make a permanent home in the ring grooves. Just wearing away at the cylinder wall until you need to replace the engine. Cleaning won't undo that, disassembled or not. I know of at least one expensive built motor that was lost to abrasive material in the plenum getting sucked into the motor. www.selindesign.net
